The Retreat is a virtual retreat so you can attend irrespective of your location. All you need is commitment, your mobile phone and access to a computer. So you can think of a virtual retreat as the time you scheduled to take time away from the busyness of life to put things back in perspective, focus on your personal goals and work on a plan to achieve them. Even though you may not physically leave your home, you will escape to moments of bliss where you can see your desires coming to pass.

ZUMBA is designed for everyone, every shape and age. Anyone can participate in a ZUMBA class and have fun. This program is not limited to dancers, fitness fanatics or seniors. All exercisers from beginner to advanced will enjoy the benefits of a ZUMBA class, including stress relief, improved cardiovascular health, improvement in muscle tone, increased energy and (everyone’s favorite--) weight loss. A ZUMBA fitness class will burn anywhere from 300-800 calories per hour depending on the intensity at which it is performed. Choreography modifications are offered throughout the class to ensure that each participant is challenged. Everyone is welcome in a Zumba class!

Is a faith based Dance Fitness Class any different from a Zumba Class? I am concerned that the ZUMBA music and choreography are “worldly” and may not be in line with my faith in God. Is this true?
First of all, God created us and he designed us to be able to dance. The devil does not own the rights to rhythmic movement; he has only perverted it. Though Dance to Fitness uses ZUMBA fitness as part of the work out, all the music we use is Christian music i.e Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, Cha Cha, African, Hip Hop, Kumbia etc. We also pray for each other and declare God’s word over our Spirit, Soul and Body. In essence, you are getting a total workout - Spirit, Soul and Body.
ZUMBA is designed to create a fun and lively atmosphere in which participants are so busy dancing that they forget that they are even exercising. The dance movements are designed to tone our muscles and burn lots of calories. At times, this does involve pelvic movements, hip rolls, etc., but most are not intended to be suggestive. However, the class is what the instructor makes it, because ZUMBA instructors have the freedom to modify the choreography or create their own. I do use discretion as I select which music tracks and choreography to use, so if a specific song or dance step is inappropriate or suggestive, I don’t use it.
What ZUMBA classes do you offer, and what’s the difference?
I am licensed to teach ZUMBA. There are other variations like Zumba Toning, Aqua Zumba, Zumbatomic, etc. I am willing to adapt a class to a specific population, such as families, senior citizens, or those who are new to exercise. If there are going to be men in the class, I will select songs and choreography modifications that are “guy friendly”. ZUMBA can also be incorporated into fundraising events, health fairs, bazaars, parties or other celebrations. Feel free to discuss your ideas and visions with me.
